Who is behind our skills academy?
Louize & Matt created The Curious Academy to address the skills gaps in the Thames Valley. We ran a boutique search firm for ten years, building account teams for telecom software vendors across Europe.
What we learned during this time is that often the ‘standard’ profile of degree educated just doesn’t work for every role. Some of the most successful people we worked with and placed often came from under-privileged backgrounds and had non-traditional resumes. What they had was an innate hunger to better themselves and provide for their families, and they had that spark that helped them overcome obstacles every day.
We work with very capable people who have been rejected on the basis of a cursory glance at a resume, the people working hard in front line jobs but being knocked back because they don’t fit a predefined mould, the people who will push to better themselves because it matters.
A little more about us
Matt Bovey - Course Director for Data Analytics
With over 20 years of experience in human resources, data analytics, and leading training programs, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to his role as Course Director for The Curious Academy's Data Analytics Skills Bootcamp.
Previously, Matt worked in various HR roles at Vodafone where he developed expertise in HR analytics, workforce planning, and talent acquisition. As an HR Analytics Manager, he created workforce insights to guide decision-making around hiring, productivity, and effectiveness. He also led European recruiting efforts for Vodafone's Project Spring initiative, helping the company expand into new markets.
As Course Director for The Curious Academy's Data Analytics Bootcamp, Matt now draws on his multifaceted experience to lead a 16-week intensive program. With a passion for nurturing talent, he works closely with industry experts to equip students with in-demand data skills.
Matt ensures students put their skills into practice through real-world projects, cementing their knowledge. With a keen understanding of employer needs and hands-on analytics expertise, he delivers an impactful learning experience for anyone looking to launch or advance their career in data.
Louize Clarke - Course Director for Digital Marketing
With over 25 years of experience in recruitment, marketing, and leading skills training programs, Louize brings valuable expertise to her role as Course Director at The Curious Academy.
Previously, she spearheaded talent acquisition for IT and telecoms companies across Europe. sales, marketing and technical roles. She has also been a Product Manager for a product design house specialising in electronics and display baed products. Prior to this she was a Sales Manager for Ericsson Training working with mobile operators in the UK.
Passionate about mentorship, Louize takes a hands-on approach focused on building confidence and sparking self-reinvention. With a strong understanding around employer requirements and what it takes to prepare job-ready candidates, she ensures program participants put skills into practice through real-world projects. Her superpower is recognising hidden talents and guiding people to realise their potential.
