Outstanding Across the Board in Our First Ofsted Inspection

We're absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with our community. After three intensive days of inspection in July, Ofsted has awarded The Curious Academy Outstanding ratings across every single category - overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and adult learning programmes.

But here's the thing - this isn't really about us. It's about every single person who has walked through our doors, rolled up their sleeves, and proved that with the right support and environment, anything is possible.

What Makes Our Approach Different

When inspectors spent time in our classrooms, they saw something that we witness every day: the magic that happens when people learn together in the same room. They watched career changers who'd never touched a programming language before creating sophisticated data visualisations. They saw complete beginners confidently building websites and mastering SEO strategies just weeks into their journey.

"This Outstanding rating validates what we've always believed - when you see the spark in people and give them the right support in a face-to-face environment, incredible things happen," says our Course Director, Matt Bovey. "Online courses can't replicate the accountability and genuine connections that develop when people learn together in the same room."

The inspectors noted how we create a "highly inclusive and nurturing learning environment" - but what that really means is that whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to pivot your career entirely, you'll find your place here. We've seen people from every conceivable background succeed in our programmes, and that's exactly how we like it.

Learning That Connects to Your Real World

One thing that particularly impressed the inspectors was how we tailor projects to individual interests and goals. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all education. Your data analytics project might focus on sports statistics because that's what gets you excited, while your classmate explores environmental data because that's their passion.

Our data analytics course attracts career changers and job seekers ready to break into an exciting field. Our digital marketing programme works with self-employed people who need these skills to grow their businesses. Everyone brings something different to the table, and our job is helping you channel your interests into practical skills you can use from day one.

The Community That Never Ends

Perhaps what we're most proud of - and what really caught the inspectors' attention - is what happens after those 12 weeks are up. The learning doesn't stop when the course ends. You become part of our community for life.

We continue offering career and business guidance, provide access to our co-working space where graduates network and collaborate, and create opportunities for ongoing skill development. We've watched freelancers team up on client projects, seen career changers get mentorship from our graduates who've successfully made their transitions, and witnessed countless "lightbulb moments" in our community space.

The inspectors called this ongoing support particularly impressive, and we couldn't agree more. It's one thing to learn new skills; it's another to have a community that supports you as you apply them in the real world.

Always Getting Better

The inspection praised our "highly effective culture of continuous quality improvement," and that's something we take seriously. We're constantly listening - to the people going through our programmes, the businesses they work for or start, and the employers who hire them.

If something isn't working or the market needs different skills, we adapt quickly. Our curriculum evolves based on real feedback from real people doing real work. That's how we ensure our training stays relevant and practical.

Building More Than Just Technical Skills

Yes, you'll learn to code in Python or master Google Analytics or build compelling social media campaigns. But you'll also develop critical thinking skills, learn to present your findings with confidence, and engage in meaningful discussions with peers who challenge and support you.

The inspectors observed how our trainers use their industry expertise to create "learner-led activities and discussions" that prepare you for professional environments - whether as an employee ready to impress or an entrepreneur ready to grow your business.

What This Really Means

This Outstanding rating isn't just a badge of honour (though we're certainly proud of it). It's recognition that our approach works. It validates what our graduates tell us every day - that learning in person, with proper support and a genuine community, creates results that go far beyond what any online course can achieve.

Almost all our students, including those who face various challenges, complete their programmes successfully. More importantly, they develop the confidence to apply their new skills in the real world and achieve their goals.
